NAM VETS ANSWER QUESTIONS

How to find a buddy

I am constantly being asked how to find a buddy. Quite honestly a lot of it is luck!!!

There are some places that are more worth while than others.

Perhaps the best place to start is with the VA. A simple phone call can tell you what you might need to know. The number is 1-800-827-1000 you will need as much information as possible about your buddy. Name, rank, years in service, MOS, home of record are all helpful. Tell the VA that you are checking to see if a vet is in the system and that if he is you want to have a letter forwarded to him.

IF your buddy is in the VA system, the person on the phone will tell you where to send the letter to be forwarded.

Other places to try are unit specific web sites, classmates.com and military.com

Good luck in your search. It can be done!!! I found my LT in four days but I did have some great luck!
